1ST LAW OF PERSONAL BRANDING: {LAW OF PERSONALITY}
What can you say to the ROCK & FLOWER in the picture attached to this post? .......DINSTICT, If I may say. There is a mystery behind it, if I am right. It has a Unique Personality.
Yes! That is what this Law is saying, ......(you should find your uniqueness), your Unique Selling Point (USP). Your personal brand must be built around your personality in all its aspects.
The world out there (both in the public & private sectors) are looking for people of this quality . At the introductory section of this series, When I talked about "Knock On Doors", one of my brothers asked for the qualifications to do that, this is one of the qualifications the BIG SHOTS behind those doors are looking for. Your Uniqueness.
And one way to show to them that you are different from others, especially if you are a job seeker, is to step out and knock on their (your prospective employers) doors. By that, you have succeeded in telling them that you are A Goal Getter, Bold & Determined. I can assure you that you will be highly valued (in their mind), because not many have the mind to do that.
The most important part of personal branding is that you be perceived as a "Unique Personality". Coke is the real thing in the minds of many, even though the last "real thing" advertisement was ran almost thirty years ago. Today, it is still the REAL THING in the mind all.
How do people see you at your place of work? As a latecomer, problem solver, solution provider; nice and trustworthy person, a pleasant staff, positive and cheerful person, an expert and professional, a reliable staff, a diligent or lazy worker?
As a job seeker, what does your CV say about you? Your CV is a "person", your "mouth piece" that speaks for you while you are not there physically with your prospective employers. Talk of academic qualifications, employers will always have more than enough, but what unique quality do you possess that makes you different from your competitors? Find it, and you have gotten a key to sell yourself.
To make your brand sellable, be pleasant and let people know they can depend on you.
Please, do not tell me you do not have any uniqueness, I will call it ABILITY for better understanding. From my observation, every human being has minimum of seven abilities. Find yours, and you are on your way to creating a lasting branding.
Thanks for being there with me again today on this series on Personal Branding. I promise to be back tommorrow with the 2nd Law ........LAW OF CONCENTRATION.
