2ND LAW OF PERSONAL BRANDING: {LAW OF CONCENTRATION}
What this law is simply saying is to direct all your efforts and attention on developing your brand and persist until you get to your desired destination, which I believe should be the TOP.
To make the greatest of success of anything, you must be able to concentrate your entire thoughts upon the brand you are working on. We accomplish more by concentration than by fitness.
One brand that I respect so much when it comes to this law of concentration is “Coca-Cola”. Base on the sugar contents, the health experts declared that consumption of the product is dangerous to our health. Rather for the producer to work on the content, they concentrated their efforts on the branding, we have witnessed several changes in the brand and instead of rejection its continuous acceptance worldwide is no more news, the drink is now a house hold name across the globe. Coke is the real thing in the minds of many, even though the last "real thing" advertisement ran almost thirty years ago.
If some of us were to be this Coca-Cola, we would have succumbed to the societal pressure and sign out of the market. Think of Guinness, as bitter as the drink is, millions of young guys have built mansion in their stomachs via its consumption.
What has been your reaction to the discrimination against the brand you bear?
We feel ashamed to show to the world the brand we possess. Self defeat! That’s the best world to describe that altitude.
CONCENTRATION…….. Think of Akintola Williams, the Doyen of Accountancy, I call him Mr ICAN, because the brand "ICAN" emerged out of his power of concentration. Today, I tell you, if the man sneezes, ICAN catches cold.
CONCENTRATION…….In high jump, developing a new technique is one thing, getting it accepted is another issue. The commonly method used to be straddle, in which they went over the bar while facing it, with one hand and one leg leading. A man, Dick Fasbury developed a technique where he went over putting his head first with his back to the bar. But it was dubbed a flop.
He remarked, “I was told over and over again that I would never be successful, that it was not going to be competitive and the technique was simply not going to work. All I could do was shrug and say, We’ll just have to see.”
Yes! People really saw it. He concentrated all his efforts on making meaning out of his new technique. In 1968, he won the gold medal in the Mexico City Olympics, shattering the precious Olympics records and setting a new word record in the process. Since then, nearly all world-class high jumpers use his technique. No wonder, the technique was dubbed Fasbury Flop.
Are you taking DETERMINATION as another word for my idea of concentration? You may think so because it takes DETERMINATION to CONCENTRATE. So determine to concentrate all your efforts towards developing your brand.
I so much believe in this word that says …”if determination will determine my success, I will determine to determine the determination”.
May be I should reframe the saying ….”If personal branding will determine my success, I will determine to determine the personal brand”.
Next to come is ......3RD LAW..{LAW OF VISIBILITY
